Troubleshooting
How to change the URL or IPTV code in your app
How to change the IPTV URL or code (server, user, password) in IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate and IBO Player, step by step, without losing channels.
Receiving new credentials or a new M3U URL is of no use until they are updated in your application. This guide details the procedure for three common applications: IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate and IBO Player.
What do you need before you start?
You need three things: the new credentials, the app with an existing playlist to update, and an active connection to validate the change.
- The new M3U URL or the new Xtream Codes credentials (server, username, password) received by email.
- The application already installed with an existing playlist to modify (or delete and recreate).
- An active Internet connection to validate the change.
How do you change the URL or code in IPTV Smarters Pro?
In IPTV Smarters Pro, open the playlist management menu (often named Users), edit the existing entry and save; if there is no edit option, delete the playlist and add a new one.
- Open IPTV Smarters Pro and access the playlist management menu (often named Users or accessible from the side menu).
- Select the existing playlist, then choose the edit option if it is offered by your version.
- Update the server, username and password (Xtream Codes connection), or the full URL (M3U connection).
- Save, then wait for the application to reload the channel list.
If no edit option appears, delete the old playlist then add a new one with updated information, as described in our IPTV Smarters Pro guide.
How do you change the URL or code in TiviMate?
In TiviMate, go to Settings > Playlists, select the playlist, choose Edit, update the field and save. TiviMate keeps Xtream Codes and M3U playlists separate, so edit the right type rather than adding a second one.
- Open TiviMate and go to Settings > Playlists.
- Select the playlist to edit, then choose Edit.
- Update the Xtream Codes server field or M3U URL depending on the method used.
- Save, then force a playlist refresh if the new channels don't appear immediately.
TiviMate clearly distinguishes, as described on the official application website, its Xtream Codes playlists from its M3U playlists: make sure you edit the right type of playlist rather than adding a second one by mistake.
How do you change the URL or code in IBO Player?
Unlike IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate, IBO Player generally does not offer a field to edit directly in the application. The update goes through its web portal:
- Open iboplayer.com from a browser.
- Access the playlist management area with the MAC address and device key displayed by your IBO Player installation.
- Remove or modify the old associated M3U URL, then add the new URL you received.
- Save on the portal, then completely close IBO Player on your device before reopening it.
This difference in method comes from the way IBO Player works, detailed in our IBO Player guide: the association is done by MAC address rather than by a username entered directly in the application.
Why does the procedure differ by application?
The change is made in different places depending on the app: directly in IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate, but through a web portal for IBO Player.
| Application | Where the change is made | Common connection type |
|---|---|---|
| IPTV Smarters Pro | Directly in the app | Xtream Codes or M3U |
| TiviMate | Directly in the application, Playlists menu | Xtream Codes or M3U |
| IBO Player | On the iboplayer.com portal | MAC Address + M3U URL |
Each developer designs their own playlist management screen; the general logic remains the same (find the playlist, update its information), but the exact location varies. Our IPTV application comparison presents these differences for other applications.
Troubleshooting
- The change does not seem to be taken into account: close the application completely (not just the menu) then reopen it to force the refresh.
- Authentication error after update: retype the server, username and password without any stray spaces, especially on mobile where copying can add an invisible character.
- The old playlist reappears: check that you have modified the existing entry rather than adding a new duplicate one.
- Still stuck: see our article Xtream Codes explained to check each field one by one.
In summary
Changing the URL or IPTV code means finding the playlist management menu in your application and entering the new information received. IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate allow direct in-app editing; IBO Player goes through its web portal. When in doubt, deleting and then recreating the playlist with up-to-date information works in all cases.
Frequently asked questions
Why should I change the URL or IPTV code in my app?
The most common case is an access renewal which generates new credentials, or switching from the M3U method to Xtream Codes (or the reverse). This is not a secret code to be guessed, but the information sent by email during activation.
Should I delete the old playlist before adding the new information?
It depends on the application: some offer an "Edit" option which updates the existing playlist, others require you to delete the old entry and then add a new one. Check which screens your app offers before choosing.
Why do my old credentials no longer work after the change?
Once new credentials are generated for your access, the previous ones usually stop working. Always use the latest information received by email rather than old information saved by mistake.
Is the method the same in all IPTV applications?
The principle is similar (find the playlist management screen then modify the fields), but the exact location of the menu varies depending on the application, as shown in the examples detailed above for IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate and IBO Player.
What should I do if I can't find the edit option in my app?
Look for a menu named "Playlists", "Accounts" or "Users" depending on the application. As a last resort, deleting the old playlist and then adding a new one with up-to-date information produces the same result.
Do I need to restart the application after changing the URL or code?
This isn't always required, but completely closing and then reopening the app helps force a full channel refresh if the list doesn't seem up to date immediately.
