What makes a Samsung different is Tizen: Samsung's in-house system, unrelated to Android TV. There is therefore no APK sideloading or third-party store — you are limited to applications validated in the Samsung store, and this catalog varies depending on the model year and the country of the account. This is why the most reliable route almost always goes through Smart IPTV, historically the best-supported player on Tizen. Our article IPTV on Samsung without a box covers this logic in more detail.

Good news: once you understand these limits, installation only takes about ten minutes and does not require any risky tinkering. This guide walks through the Smart IPTV method step by step, then the Xtream Codes alternative for the rare players that accept it.

Three points are worth setting out from the start. First, the Samsung Apps catalog is not identical from one model to another: an application present on a recent TV may be missing on a 2018 model, and vice versa. Second, Smart IPTV never asks for your Xtream Codes credentials: it just needs a playlist link tied to the TV's MAC address, which explains the small detour through the web portal. Finally, if you already have an HDMI stick (Fire TV, Android TV), you can ignore the limits of Tizen and follow the guide for that stick — it's generally more comfortable to use.

🎒 What do you need?

  • A Samsung Smart TV (Tizen) plugged in and connected to the Internet, preferably via Ethernet
  • An active Samsung account on the TV (required by Samsung Apps on some models)
  • Your playlist URL https://play.iptv4ksubscriptions.com/get.php?username=VOTRE_IDENTIFIANT&password=VOTRE_MOT_DE_PASSE&type=m3u_plus&output=ts — received in your activation email — for the Smart IPTV method
  • Or your Xtream Codes credentials (server, username, password) if your player accepts them
  • A smartphone or computer at hand to open the siptv.app portal
  • About 10 minutes of your time

It takes three steps: open the Tizen Apps store, install Smart IPTV, then declare your playlist by MAC address on siptv.app.

1 Open the Apps store on Tizen

On Tizen, there is no “Google Play” icon. The store opens from the Smart Hub:

  1. Press the Home button (house icon) on the remote control: the Smart Hub bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Move left to the Apps tile (windows or “+” icon).
  3. Use the magnifying glass at the top right to search for a player by its exact name, for example Smart IPTV.
  4. On recent models, select Install; on older models, the app downloads and pins itself to the home screen automatically.

If you can't find anything suitable, don't look for a .wgt file or a “developer mode”: that mode is for loading signed test packages, not for installing consumer apps. It's the sign that you need to go through an external HDMI stick.

2 Install Smart IPTV and find the MAC address

Smart IPTV does not connect with a username: it works by MAC address, a unique number specific to your television.

  1. From the Apps tile, install Smart IPTV, then launch it.
  2. When it opens, the screen displays the MAC address of the TV (format xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx) as well as the address of the portal to use.
  3. Write down this MAC address exactly, character by character — it's what will link your playlist to this specific TV.

⚠️ Attention: copy the MAC address displayed by the application, not the one indicated in the TV's network settings. Depending on the connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), the television has two different addresses, and only the one shown by Smart IPTV is the correct one.

3 Declare your playlist on siptv.app

The principle is to post your playlist link on the publisher's portal, then let the TV retrieve it.

  1. On a phone or computer, open siptv.app, Mylist section.
  2. Enter the MAC address displayed on the TV in the field provided.
  3. Paste https://play.iptv4ksubscriptions.com/get.php?username=VOTRE_IDENTIFIANT&password=VOTRE_MOT_DE_PASSE&type=m3u_plus&output=ts in the link field (Link (m3u)), give it a name if the portal asks for one, then confirm with Send / Add link.
  4. Return to the TV, exit Smart IPTV with the Back key, then reopen the application: the channel list loads.
  5. Open a channel to confirm that playback starts.

Smart IPTV offers a trial period then requires a one-time activation per device (amount set by the app, independent of your subscription). The Smart IPTV listing details each screen.

⚙️ Smart IPTV, Xtream Codes or M3U: which method to choose?

On Tizen, the method depends mainly on what the installed player can do. Here's how they compare.

Criterion Smart IPTV (MAC) Xtream Codes Direct M3U URL
What you enter MAC address + link on siptv.app Server + username + password A single long URL
Where you configure On a phone / PC (web portal) Directly on the TV Directly on the TV
EPG (program guide) Loaded from the playlist Loaded automatically Sometimes via a separate URL
Availability on Tizen Wide (the go-to player) Rare depending on the model Varies depending on the player
Ideal for Most Samsungs The rare players that accept it Players without a MAC account

Some players on certain models accept a direct Xtream Codes or Add user login, without using a MAC address. In this case, enter https://play.iptv4ksubscriptions.com in the server field, add your username and password (watch out for capital letters on the virtual keyboard), confirm and wait for the categories to load.

💡 Tip: if a player gives you the choice between Xtream Codes and an M3U URL, choose Xtream Codes: a mistyped password can be corrected field by field, whereas an 80-character M3U URL must be re-entered in full on the virtual keyboard — painful with a remote control. However, this option remains rare on Tizen: do not count on it by default, unlike an Android TV box.

🧩 Troubleshooting

The player you are looking for is not in Samsung Apps

This is common on older Tizen TVs, whose catalog is smaller. First check for system updates (Settings → Support → Software Update). If the application still cannot be found, do not look for a third-party file: plug a Fire TV or Android TV stick into an HDMI input to access a full catalog. Our device compatibility page summarizes the options.

Smart IPTV displays “no channels” or an empty list

The MAC address entered on siptv.app does not match the TV's, or the playlist has not yet been attached. Copy the MAC address character by character (the one displayed in the application), check that the link has been added in Mylist, then exit and relaunch the application. See also M3U playlist not loading.

Playlist does not update after change

Smart IPTV caches the list. After modifying the link on siptv.app, close the application completely (press Back until you reach the home screen), wait a few seconds, then reopen it to force a reload. Restarting the TV resolves the most stubborn cases.

“Invalid username/password” on an Xtream Codes player

A field is wrong, a space slipped in on the virtual keyboard, or your subscription has expired. Re-enter the server and credentials without spaces and check the expiry date — see Xtream Codes authentication error.

Picture stutters or pixelates

On a Samsung, the built-in Wi-Fi is often the weak point. An Ethernet cable to the television solves a good number of cases; failing that, move your router closer or force the 5 GHz band. Other network causes are detailed in our streaming buffering guide.

The application closes or crashes on an old model

Entry-level or older Tizen TVs have little memory. Close other applications, restart the TV, and keep the system updated. If slowdowns persist, a recent external HDMI stick will provide a significantly smoother experience than the TV's built-in processor.

EPG (program guide) is empty or incomplete

The guide depends on the data provided in the playlist and may take a while to fill in. Leave the app open for a few minutes after the first load, then check that no separate EPG source is required in the player settings.

💡 How do you get a stable stream on Tizen?

  • Ethernet rather than Wi-Fi. The Samsung Wi-Fi module is often the weak link: a network cable to the TV eliminates most dropouts, especially in HD/4K.
  • Write down your MAC address somewhere. You'll need it for every playlist update on siptv.app; keeping it handy saves reopening the application just to read it again.
  • Keep Tizen up to date. System updates sometimes unlock applications missing from the store and fix playback issues (Settings → Support → Software update).
  • One player at a time. Stacking several IPTV apps on an old TV wastes memory: keep the one that works and uninstall the others.
  • Consider an HDMI stick if the catalog falls short. On the most limited Samsungs, a small Fire TV or Android TV box gives access to players like TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro, which are impossible natively on Tizen. Our IPTV applications comparison helps you decide.

To change access later, the process depends on the method: with Smart IPTV, replace the link attached to your MAC address on siptv.app; with an Xtream Codes player, edit the server or credentials directly in its settings. And if you equip several devices, our guides by device use the same logic for Android boxes, mobiles and other televisions.

Frequently asked questions

Do all Samsung Smart TVs accept an IPTV player?

No. Availability depends on the model, year and version of Tizen installed. Older TVs may have a more limited Samsung Apps store; check directly from Home > Apps before choosing a connection method.

Do you need a Samsung account to install an IPTV player?

Some televisions require it to access Samsung Apps, others don't, depending on the model. This is a Samsung-specific account, entirely separate from your IPTV4KSubscriptions access.

Can I use Smart IPTV instead of Xtream Codes?

Yes: on Samsung TVs, Smart IPTV is installed from Samsung Apps then configured by MAC address on siptv.app, as described in our guide dedicated to this application. This is the most reliable route on Tizen.

What should I do if the picture stays frozen after connecting?

First restart the application, then the TV if necessary. If the issue affects multiple channels at once, see our streaming buffering guide for the most common network causes.

Can I install an APK file on my Samsung Smart TV?

No. Tizen is not Android: it does not accept APKs, third-party stores, or sideloading. You are limited to validated apps in Samsung Apps. For a wider choice, plug in an external HDMI dongle (Fire TV, Android TV).

Is Smart IPTV paid for on a Samsung?

The app offers a short trial period, then requires a one-time activation per TV (a small amount set by the app publisher). This activation is independent of your IPTV4KSubscriptions subscription and is only paid once per device.

Can I equip a second Samsung TV with the same access?

Yes, with the same Smart IPTV method, but each TV has its own MAC address to declare on siptv.app. Two simultaneous streams, however, require a plan with several connections (see our prices).

How do I update my playlist or change access later?

With Smart IPTV, simply replace the link attached to your MAC address in the Mylist section of siptv.app, then relaunch the application on the TV. With an Xtream Codes player, edit the server or credentials directly in its settings.
